Sunbeam Hotel

For our work, this was a worthwhile place to stay. We were downtown, a five-minute walk from the Mekong River and only a few minutes from temples, with food and drinks very convenient nearby. We spent just six to eight hours a day at the hotel, mainly to sleep well and shower, and for that it was worth it regardless of the hotel’s star rating.

The location is hard to beat, with a quick walk to massage shops, pizza places, restaurants, and the Waterfront Night Market. I’d recommend it if you want a clean budget stay. The Wi-Fi worked well, though there wasn’t a TV in the room. I stayed a few nights. The room was clean and in good condition, and staff cleaned it every day. It was simple, with a smaller, somewhat hard bed, but still comfortable and with clean sheets. There was a nice little balcony. The bathroom was decently equipped, with good pressure and very hot water. You may get a fair exchange rate if you pay in Thai baht. The AC was absolutely amazing, super strong and clean. For the price and area, I’d give it about 4.5.

We’ve stayed here many times because the location makes it easy to walk to plenty of good restaurants. The staff are helpful, and it’s a good deal for the price. It’s an old, basic place, but the rooms are large and clean. Showers are great, with good pressure and hot water. You might need to let it run for a while before it heats up, but it does. There’s no elevator, though you can leave luggage downstairs if you don’t need it.

It’s downtown and close to the food night market, with the Vientiane night market about a seven-minute walk away. The area is quiet despite being central. Rooms are clean, staff are friendly and communicate well in English, and breakfast is acceptable.
