Safaria Lodge Wilpattu

We stayed one night and felt very welcome. The room was big and clean. In the evening, all the guests had dinner together, with a delicious home-cooked curry made by the owner's mom. Book the safari with them if you stay here. The price is fair, everything is arranged, and pickup is from the lodge. Food is included too. A perfect nature getaway.

The hosts were so welcoming and friendly, and the room was beautiful in a peaceful setting. Dinner together was delicious and a great chance to connect with other guests. We also enjoyed the evening walk with the group, a lovely extra that made the stay feel social and special. A couple of things to plan around: the safari booked through the property was quite expensive, so it may be worth checking outside providers. The property is remote, with the nearest restaurant about 2.5 km away and the closest shop around 1 km away. Still, I had a wonderful stay.

We had a fantastic stay and left feeling like we’d made good friends. We arrived at the safari lodge early, but the hosts gave us a warm welcome, a drink, and showed us to a very spacious and comfortable room with an en-suite shower room and toilet. Isuru and his wife took us to the local village for a lovely early evening walk. We had hoppers and snacks there, then walked back. Later, we shared a delicious home-cooked meal and chatted with them and the other guests. Some elephants were in the field beside the lodge, so isuru took us to see them. After a comfortable night, we went on an all-day safari to wilpatu safari park. Isuru arranged the whole trip, including a jeep and driver, plus a very knowledgeable guide who knew all about the animals and birds. When we got back, we were offered a nature walk, but after the safari we were tired and went to bed early after dinner. We’d definitely come back if we get the chance. Isuru planned my full-day safari, and as a wildlife photographer I really appreciated being paired with a great driver and spotter. I got lucky and saw a leopard, bear, elephants, bufallos, dears, and more. I just wish I could have stayed longer. The lodge is cosy and has everything you need near Wilpattu. All the wildlife pictures hanging in the rooms are Isuru's. His mother's cooking was delicious too. My short stay at Isuru's place was perfect. Thanks again for everything!
