Solid Hotel

Affordable A/C rooms with clean bathrooms, beds, and a TV. Recommended.

The hotel made for a comfortable, restful night, and I appreciated how convenient it was for my visit. I stayed at Solid Hotel because it’s right by the Department of Immigration and Emigration, which meant I could get near the front of the line early the next morning to renew my wife’s passport. That location made the process much smoother.

My stay at Solid Hotel in Battaramulla was a nightmare because the room felt filthy and unsafe. The bathroom was grimy and slippery, with mold and mildew in the corners, and the toilet seemed poorly maintained and unsanitary. The pillow covers were stained and foul-smelling, and the towels were threadbare and didn’t feel hygienic. It was hard to bear the thought of using either. The door lock was broken, leaving the room open to unauthorized entry. I was anxious about my belongings and my safety while sleeping, and the management’s failure to address such a basic security issue was inexcusable. I strongly caution anyone who cares about cleanliness and security against staying here. Solid Hotel failed at every part of hospitality, and I’d tell people to stay elsewhere.

We had to pay 300 rupie extra to check in one hour early. There were no sheets for the night and no toilet paper, and there wasn’t any WiFi in the rooms. The staff didn’t speak English, so they couldn’t help. When we got to the room, the receptionist sprayed the whole place to make it smell nice, but it smelled worse afterward and was hard to breathe. I also got an electric shock when I touched the powerplug on the wall. The rooms were clean and the AC worked, which were the only positives. As a girl, I didn’t feel safe there, with too many strange people around. Such a strange place. I’d never stay again and highly recommend NOT staying here.
