We paid 8000 cash in good faith for one night, though the room cost 7620. We only found that out after requesting an invoice and paying by credit card. They also don’t mention a charge for bottled water until you take more than one. In the land of tea, we got overpriced brown water. The customer service was miserable, and the TV and appliances didn’t work. The curtains, shower heads, bucket, and hot-water connections were moldy. There was exposed wiring by the bed. The tenants were loud, though I can’t really blame the hotel for that. Check your options carefully, and go at your own risk. ⚠️☢️☣️🛑⛔️

We’d booked a room the day before, but when we arrived early this morning, we were told it had already been taken. It was a frustrating inconvenience. I strongly advise against relying on their service.

The place is nice, but they’re cunning. There aren’t proper plug points, and the bathroom heater is switched off. They seem to use a sly way to keep customers from using it. You might experience this if you visit. Also, confirm your booking several times before going, since there may be no vacant rooms when you arrive, even with a booking.

I had booked two days at Victoria Palace Hotel in Wellawatta because my daughter had an exam in Colombo. The room was unclean and clearly neglected, and none of the air conditioners worked, so it was hot and stuffy. I ended up canceling early because of the conditions, but was still charged for one day. The stay was far from satisfactory. I can’t recommend Victoria Palace Hotel until it improves cleanliness and gets basic amenities like air conditioning working.
