Trillium Boutique City Hotel Colombo

We turned up at Trillium without a booking, and despite the hotel being heavily booked for an international sporting event, Mr Dhanushka went out of his way to find us a room for two nights. The staff were friendly and hospitable, and the service was great. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it.

I came back to this hotel for convenience, and this visit was much better. We reluctantly took an adjoining room, but it stayed quiet for both nights, so it seems they’re working on the noise problems. I might return on next year's Sri Lanka trip to see how things go, since the place has plenty of potential. Earlier stays were a different story. The hotel is lovely and the service is excellent, but noisy guests upstairs and nearby made it hard to sleep. On our first visit, we were in an adjoining room with a thin door; after two complaints to the manager, the issue was resolved. On the second visit, the first two nights in a non-adjoining room were fine, then we had noisy neighbours at all hours. Earplugs, or wet tissue in your ears, might help. I’d thought I wouldn’t stay again. It really is a shame.

The staff were attentive and caring, and breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean and well looked after. The rooftop was a highlight, with a lovely pool, comfortable loungers, and a bar serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. I had a wonderful stay in Colombo and would recommend it.

The rooftop sunset view was lovely, and from the pool you can see Colombo Tower and more. Our room was huge, the bed was one of the most comfortable we've had, and the aircon worked really well. The staff were so nice too. It was a perfect place for our last few days before flying out. It's about 20 minutes from the city centre, though Pick Me rides from there are very cheap.
