The beachside setting was stunning, the staff welcoming and well intentioned, and the yoga class was led by an experienced teacher. They also make an effort to be plastic free and sustainable. For us, though, the price didn't match the quality. A double room was $50 a night. In the first room, the AC wouldn't respond to different settings and made it uncomfortably cold. Another room had no hot water in the shower and only one working power socket. Breakfast tasted nice, but cost extra, bringing the stay to about $60 a night. The portion was smaller than elsewhere, and I was hungry again soon after the 'full' breakfast. At this price by Sri Lankan standards, I expect everything in the room to work properly.

The rooms are spacious, the AC works well, and breakfast was lovely, with sweet treats. The location is great, right on the beach. The people running the place were really nice and helped us check in early after an overnight trip. The mattresses were the worst we've come across in quite a while of travelling. They're so thin and old that you feel the wood underneath, so expect a sore back in the morning. Large bugs can get in through gaps in doors and windows. The rooms aren't unclean, but they could definitely be cleaner. Hot water varies, sometimes the shower is slightly warm, sometimes hot. You get what you pay for: it's a cheap stay, and shouldn't be expected to be the best.

The place is in a very good spot on the best Dikwella beach, with a beautiful garden area. The staff were kind and very helpful, and we loved the food from the kitchen. The downstairs room wasn't very good: dark, small and with really uncomfortable mattresses. The top-floor room was good, though it could have used more shelves.

The garden and beach are beautiful, and the place is very close to the sea. There isn't wifi in the room, though the booking listing didn't claim otherwise. A few things caused trouble. The AC remote didn't communicate with the unit, so you could only turn it on or off at the wall switch. I saw this issue in older reviews too, so please fix it. The shower pressure was very low, and there was no hot water in the evening. Our room was near the bar, so there was music from 7:30 am until 9 pm. I'd give it four stars for the garden and beach. If you're looking to surf, there are probably better beaches with bars and instructors.

The beach location is wonderful and the sunsets were gorgeous. The people working at Voulez Vous were incredibly friendly, though sometimes forgetful. We only got one towel for the whole week, even after asking for fresh ones a couple of times. My room had no mosquito net, so I got bitten by a lot of bugs. The AC went out quite often during blackouts, but generally stayed on through the night, which mattered most. It was a nice place to sleep, enjoy the beach scenery and head over to Hiriketiya. As other reviews have said, you get what you pay for.
