Ella Highest Inn

We were four friends and had a nice stay here. It was affordable, and the view is amazing. They offered us tea in the morning, and there are tables both inside and outside where you can sit and hang out. The room was clean enough, and there was hot water. Not like in the photos!

It feels peaceful here, tucked into nature, and the balcony looks out over the surroundings. The center of Ella is only a short walk away, while Ravana's Cave is about a 30-minute walk. Our room and bathroom were clean, and the sheets were fresh. Breakfast was included, really good, and plentiful. I'd recommend this resort.

The owner was the worst part of our stay. He seemed fine at first, gave us advice, and offered to show us around. Later, he made an inappropriate comment to my friend and another person living in Ella, then got offended when she said she wasn't interested. He treated guests poorly, and after that I didn't feel safe staying there. We knew from reviews that he was a different character, but went anyway because the price was good. Getting to the property was also a problem: it's at the top of a very high hill, and the route felt unsafe and impossible to manage without a light at night. Our booking said breakfast was included, but when we arrived, somehow it wasn't. Lesson learned, I'll screenshot the meal plan next time. The room itself was okay, with a bed that wasn't too hard, clean warm sheets, and plenty of space for bags. The shower didn't always work properly and the water wasn't hot. We couldn't open the windows.

The inside of Morning Dew is quite different from its exterior. The rooms are very clean, and the food, both European and Sri Lankan, is cooked to order. You need to order when you arrive, but it can't be faulted. If you're backpacking, be ready for a very steep climb.
