Anjana and Sasanka at reception, Thushara, and the rest of the team were fabulous. The food, rooms, pool, and facilities were good, and the mountain setting had great views. It’s an easy walk or tuk tuk ride to the main street. Cars and tuk tuks can get in, though bigger vans really can’t. There are lots of steep stairs, so take that into account if you’re older or have mobility limitations. Can recommend.

The morning view is exceptional, and the pool was fine. The younger staff were better at listening, while the others didn’t seem to take in what I was saying. It’s a shame, because they do try, but listening would make things easier. My room was a little pokey. I asked for more tea bags every day and got two each time. Breakfast was okay, dinner wasn’t outstanding, and there are lots of steps. The location is the hotel’s best feature, though it won’t suit anyone who’s infirm.

The views from the grounds and balcony are stunning, and the pool area is a relaxing extra. It’s conveniently close to town, so it’s easy to get to nearby food spots and activities. The hotel has friendly, helpful service and a tasty breakfast with both local and Western choices.

The views were extraordinary, and we loved the breakfast and the staff’s hospitality. This was one of the best stays of our Sri Lanka trip. The rooms could be a little better and more modern, but they have all the necessities. There’s a shortcut to Ella town along the railway tracks, but it’s difficult with luggage when heading uphill. We took a tuk tuk for the uphill trip, about 500LKR.
