Tree Cool Resort

We had the 6.40am train to Hatton for Adam’s peak the next morning, so the location beside Ella train station worked perfectly. The garden and table were lovely, and while it rained heavily in the evening, the place felt cosy. We ordered dinner from the host, who brought us a lovely meal.

The price is very cheap, so it could be fine for one night if you’re okay with the drawbacks. The location and view are great, but the room could be better. There’s no hairdryer, and cleanliness is only okay. Water pressure is very weak, and the hot water isn’t steady. To get hot water, I had to put the shower down and kneel to wash.

You get a lovely mountain view from the rooms, and the sun rises right in front of them. Each room has a patio with its own table and chairs, plus a sliding glass front. It’s a classic little family run guesthouse, conveniently opposite the train station. The rooms are clean but nothing fancy, and it’s a quiet spot with friendly owners.

The owner was incredibly kind. I had a foot infection, and he took me to the doctor and then to a place to eat with only locals. He may ask you to buy tea from him, though I’d suggest getting it at the tea factory, where there’s much more choice. The room was simple and okay, in a fairly quiet spot a little above the rest of town. Breakfast isn’t included, and at 3000 per night there might be better options for the price. The bathroom had some mold on the walls and the toilet seat had no lid, but the floors were clean, despite what others have said. It was a cool night, and the blanket was too thin, so I had to ask for another one.
