We stayed for a whole month and were comfortable the entire time. It really does feel like home, with a well equipped, comfortable kitchen and everything needed for everyday life. The hosts are kind, welcoming, and always willing to help. The peaceful setting is full of greenery and shade, with birds singing and sometimes other animals to hear. It feels like a little paradise, and I'd definitely stay here again if I return.

Nivana apartment is my favorite, especially the view over the little jungle garden. There's a big outdoor kitchen, outdoor seating, and all amanties provided. The beaches are a nice walk away, or easy to reach by tuktuk, bike, or car. Best stay in Unawatuna!

Those evenings when Raju and Stella lit incense sticks still stay with me. The smell was incredible, and we even brought a few packs home. Lighting them now takes me straight back to Sri Lanka. We also had curry cooking lessons, and the fish Raju made was the tastiest we've ever had. We first struggled to arrange a villa through tours, waiting a week for confirmation that never came. So we decided to go as savages, bought tickets for departure in 2 days, and searched ourselves. Finding Dionis villa on Booking.com felt scary, since we'd never booked abroad there and it doesn't work in Russia now. But Raju's first WhatsApp message put us at ease. He arranged comfortable private transfers to and from the airport, met us, and showed us around. At first we were shocked that the villa was in the jungle and the beach wasn't across the street. That turned out to be a plus. Monkeys were on the vines by the shower window in the morning, a monitor lizard crossed the road on the way down to the beach, and we saw all kinds of birds and chipmunks. Honestly, we saw more animals than on the tour. Raju and Stella looked after us from that first message right through to departure. We have very fond memories of Dionis Villa, and if we return to Unawatuna, it'll be to stay with them again.

Getting here is easy by tuktuk or on foot from town. It's a quiet, private spot in a great location, with a lovely vibe and friendly, professional people. Warmly reccomend 🙏

The apartments and garden have been put together with so much care, and the homemade dinners are just as thoughtfully made if you ask for one. This Sri-lankan-italian couple are wonderful hosts, and you feel at home right away. They care about nature and the environment, and have made Dionis Villa a quiet green oasis in Unawatuna. Raju is also an excellent guide and surf teacher. We only wish we'd had more time, and would absolutely recommend staying here.
