There’s real charm at Villa Upper Dickson, and it’s very quiet at night while still close to Galle’s main area. It could use a bit of maintenance here and there, and it isn’t a five-star hotel, but the service and helpful staff felt five-star to me. Breakfast was lovely, and the pool was too. The rooms are huge and feel private since they’re separate from each other. Each one also has its own sitting lounge outside, with room to have a drink or play cards. It doesn’t feel like a typical hotel. Highly recommended!

The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and breakfast each morning was hearty. Our spacious, airy room and the refreshing pool made the Galle heat easy to handle. We had a superb three-night stay in this beautiful villa, and it was great value. Highly recommend.

We were there for four days, and Villa Upper Dickson was comfortable, peaceful, and friendly. The staff were incredibly kind and did everything they could to make the stay enjoyable. Breakfast was huge and delicious. We’d happily recommend it. The villa upgraded us when we arrived because we were a mother and son travelling together rather than a couple, so our double room became a triple. We walked to Sirf beach and the fort each day. It was manageable with basic fitness. The thing that sometimes bothered us in Galle, and elsewhere in Sri Lanka, was the tuk-tuk drivers who kept hassling us and wouldn’t accept a polite no. It happened more here than in Colombo, Kandy, or Ella, though that had nothing to do with the villa.

Iflal was a great help when our travel plans fell apart, arranging a driver to collect us from the airport late at night. He also shared recommendations for Galle and helped us add an extra night at the last minute. Thank you! The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious. It’s in a great spot, about a 15-minute walk from the fort.

The rooms were very spacious, and I found the pool relaxing. The villa is peaceful, with daily essentials nearby and easy access to Galle Fort, just a short distance away. I stayed at Upper Dicksons Villa on the 7th, 8th, and 9th of November and really enjoyed it. My only complaints were limited Wi-Fi and the lack of a proper TV connection in all but one room. Otherwise, everything was great, and I’ll definitely return to Galle.
