White Monkey Dias Rest

The meals were fresh and delicious, and the hosts were kind, helpful and enthusiastic. White Monkey Dias Rest worked easily for our group of 11, and I could also see it suiting solo travelers because the family makes you feel at home. The rooftop terrace has a breathtaking view, and our rooms had lovely views too. The beds were excellent and everyone slept well. It's a great base for the Pekoe Trail, with local walks available through a professional, fun guide. Their basic ecolodges also offer beautiful views and a close connection to nature. Whether you're leading a group or traveling alone in Sri Lanka, this mountain stay is a gem.

Staying up in the clouds was delightful, and the views are spectacular. The family made us feel welcome, and the home-cooked food was delicious. The rooms differ in age, but they were all clean. There was no WiFi or hot water, so keep that in mind if you need either. The steps down to the accommodation are steep and may be an issue if you have mobility difficulties. It's peaceful, good value, and within easy reach of wonderful walks. Some of my fellow guests even extended their stays. Thanks to the hosts for a lovely few days.

Viraj and his family were so warm and welcoming, and treated us like part of the family. His mom is an amazing cook, and we had the best Rice and Curry of our time in Sri Lanka. Set in the mountains among tea plantations, the guesthouse has stunning views. There are plenty of activities and places to visit nearby, and the family has useful recommendations and advice for day trips. If you want a great time around Haputale, don't miss a stay here.

The view over the mountains was the best I've seen in all of Sri Lanka. I stayed for about a week, either in a guesthouse room or at Viraj’s lovely camp, a short walk over the hill. Farina cooks an unlimited amount of wonderful food with love and does everything she can to make you happy. The whole family is lovely and the hospitality is great. Girod can take you by tuktuk to beautiful places like Diyaluma Waterfall and Lipton Seat for a reasonable price. There's a lot to discover around Haputale. Come and see!
