We had to find somewhere at very short notice after our original plans fell apart, and Star Holiday Resort got rooms sorted for us without any hassle. The management and staff were really accommodating, which we appreciated. We found it easy to get around from here. Hikkaduwa Beach, snorkeling spots, and the turtle hatchery are nearby. The pool was clean and well looked after, and having a separate pool for babies was a real plus. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout, and their tip for a nearby breakfast place turned out to be a good one. Our late check-in meant we needed a flexible checkout, and they let us stay a little past the due time. That gave us time to see the nearby attractions without rushing and made the trip more relaxing. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable. A couple of small things could be better: there was no soap or shampoo in the bathroom at first, and morning tea wasn’t offered automatically, though staff said we could request it. With a few improvements to the amenities, it would be even better. I really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it to people visiting Hikkaduwa. Thanks to the management and staff for being so understanding and supportive.

The only downside for me was that the internet worked in the lounge but didn’t reach the rooms. It’s a peaceful place with a nice lounge to relax in, and the pool was clean. The beach is far enough away for a quiet setting, but still just a short walk. Staff seemed to anticipate what we needed and were keen to help.

We rented a motor scooter through the owners for 800rps a day, which was handy. The place is also very close to the bus stop and train station. It’s tucked away from the main road, about a five-minute walk from it, and the owners were friendly and welcoming. My wife and I stayed five nights in a non-AC room. The pool was clean and pleasant, and we enjoyed it late at night after long beach days.

The room was basic but functional, in a quiet spot that’s still central enough. The interior works, though it wasn’t especially clean. For the price, that was okay. I’d recommend it in general, especially if you’re on a budget and would rather not stay in a hostel.
