Vista BnB Old Park Road

The staff were attentive and kindly offered to clean and spray the room after we told them about the cockroaches. Still, we didn’t have a pleasant stay at all. The building has beautiful colonial architecture, but the room didn’t live up to its exterior. The bathroom was very outdated, and the window had gaps and holes. At check-in, there were three half-dead cockroaches on the floor. I was horrified and asked for spray, which they kindly gave us to keep in the room. I saw a live one in the basin the next morning. On the second morning, I found another beside the bed, and when my husband picked it up he noticed lots of dust under the bed. The WiFi also wasn’t working well. I have a phobia of cockroaches, so I couldn’t sleep well.

The management were super friendly and helpful, and we had a pleasant stay in this decent place in Jaffna. It has a nice green setting that feels refreshing in the heat. Since it’s an old building, we didn’t expect much from the bathroom or other basic facilities. They don’t serve food, but they do offer tea and coffee.

Veejay and Akilan run a gorgeous guesthouse in a pleasant part of town. Everything was spotless, and our room was very comfortable. We had breakfast one morning in Old Park Villa. I’m coeliac, so when I explained that to Veejay he arranged masala dosa for me, while my friends had egg and toast. We also got complimentary tea or coffee each morning. Veejay organised a one-day trip for us with Yarl Tours, and we could choose what to keep or leave out of the suggested route. I highly recommend them too. All in all, a very comfortable and pleasant stay.

A lovely guesthouse with a warm welcome, a comfortable seating area and a nice garden. The morning tea was good and came with delicious treats. Veejay was really helpful with arranging a tour and bus, and Akilan was always cheerful and thoughtful.
