Jie Jie Beach Hotel

I’ve never stayed in a worse hotel. The website photos were very deceiving, and the place was filthy. Our first room hadn’t been cleaned. There were worms on the bed headboard, stains on the sheets, a torn pillowcase, and an unclean shower area with a broken shower drain. I had to call the cleaners to inspect the room, clean it, and change the sheets. We wanted to leave, but they showed us another room on the 3rd floor. The cleaners had freshened it with air freshener before showing it to us, but there was a cockroach in the room. I also saw a spider on the stairs. We didn’t want to stay, but stayed mostly because we were with a group of friends. The dining room was just as bad, with old, rickety tables and chairs and non-working A/c. Breakfast was the same both days, and I wouldn’t recommend the food either. Everything is very basic and poor quality. We couldn’t use the swimming pool because the tiles were broken, and the chairs beside it were dirty. It looked like a pool nobody had used. We’d expected to spend all our time in the pool, but that never happened. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. If I could give less than one star, I would.

I had a really nice day out at Jie Jie Beach Hotel with my 5 friends. The service was great, and we enjoyed our time there. Special thanks to Diluksha Sadaruwan for helping with our food order and taking such good care of us. He was friendly, helpful, and professional throughout. Highly recommended for a fun day with friends!

The front office team were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional, and the buffet food was tasty with a good range to choose from. The hotel is also very close to the sea and easy to reach, and the washrooms were clean and well kept. The rooms were disappointing for the price and seemed poorly maintained, with dirty marks on the walls and uncleaned window glass. There are only two room options, sea view or railway view, and the lack of soundproofing meant nearby train horns disturbed our sleep. We stayed on a half-board package, and the experience didn’t meet what I’d expect from a place advertised as 5-star. I’d give it 3 stars at best.

The worst part was having staff open our room door without warning while we were asleep. That left us feeling unsafe and disrespected, and it was a serious invasion of privacy. During our 10-day stay, we were often hungry because the meals were poor quality and the choices were very limited. Staff seemed indifferent, ignored our requests and complaints, and didn’t appear interested in helping. The rooms and shared areas were extremely dirty, as though they hadn’t been properly cleaned for years. Everything looked old and neglected, like the hotel was falling apart. This was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had. It felt dirty, outdated, and badly managed, and I’d tell people to save their money and nerves and stay elsewhere.
