The cottage was cleaner and lovelier than we expected, with great scenery and good food. The owner was just as memorable: kind, with a compelling story of his own. We found that warmth among people all across Sri Lanka. If you’re hoping to see elephants, the national park is worth visiting. We saw lots, including a two-week-old calf, and even had a face-to-face encounter with an elephant.
Isuru arranged a safari for us with a wonderful guide, and the place is really well situated for going to the park. The room was very clean, and his wife cooked one of the best curries we had in Sri Lanka. He was such a helpful host. He told us opening the place had been his dream, and the care and effort he’s put into it are easy to see.
The national park is just around the corner, which makes this a great base for a safari. We had reliable Wi-Fi, and the cottage was comfortable, clean, and well equipped. Isuru made the stay especially memorable. My girlfriend only mentioned that it was my birthday, and he took it from there, arranging a cake during our safari and a romantic jungle dinner with music, candles, and balloons. He was exceptionally kind and proactive. We’d happily return to Milk House Cottage.
Being surrounded by nature made this one of my favourite stays in Sri Lanka. Isuru recommended a safari, and it was a 10/10 experience. The park is very close, and the owner was lovely, always checking that I had what I needed. I’d recommend coming here for a safari or simply to rest 😍
A quiet little place tucked away, but conveniently close to Udawalawe national park. My room had everything I needed, plus a cute private terrace at the back. The owner was delightful and so accommodating. Since I’m gluten free, they made a special dinner for me, and he got up early to prepare breakfast for us to take on our Safari. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. I’d definitely recommend it.
