It takes around 20-25 minutes to reach Kandy city or the Temple of the Tooth, and the setting among greenery and hills makes Oak Ray Serene Garden a quiet place away from traffic and noise. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with many looking out over gardens or hills. The staff were polite and helpful throughout. Meals were simple and tasty, and suited Indian preferences. Good value for families and anyone after a relaxed stay.

I went with a group, and found the hotel very basic. Guests had to wash their hands at the dishwashing tap because there wasn't a separate hand-washing area, which was inconvenient and unhygienic. The staff also weren't dressed professionally.

The morning buffet had plenty of variety, and dinner came with a calypso music band, which we enjoyed that day. My family and I had a great one-night stay. The room was very clean and spacious, and the food was excellent. A great place to stay, highly recommended.

Okay, the rooms are very basic and poorly ventilated, with a musty smell. The towels need replacing. Not a great choice for vegetarian food.
