The balcony is so overgrown with plants that no light gets into the room. There’s also a cute puppy, which is the only reason I’d give this place two stars. Maybe it could become nice in the future, but right now it isn’t. The place uses a different name on some hotel sites, and the photos look like they were taken years ago, when it was in much better shape. Half the property is a construction site, and it doesn’t seem temporary. When I arrived, the owner cancelled my Hostelworld booking but still wanted the same price. I asked about renting a scooter, but he sent a friend who argued that I should go by tuk-tuk instead. He was a driver, of course. The owner is generally a nice guy, but gets too involved in guests’ plans and keeps asking what they’re doing. I guess that might suit some people.
