The Change Hotel

What made the place feel special was the owner's lovely vibe. It sits away from the busy parts of Kandy, which was a real relief after the crowds and noise. We found it peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was freshly made and good, and there’s a small, pleasant pool for unwinding. A calm, comfortable place to stay.

The view was beautiful and the price felt like good value. It was a little tricky to reach, though. Our room had plenty of space, but I missed having a bedside table and a few more sockets. The shared area was really nice, the staff were very friendly, and dinner, especially the grilled chicken, was delicious. Thanks a lot.

The one good thing was the view from the window. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend this place. It felt more like a backpacker hostel than a hotel, and everything was badly run down, with mold and mildew on the walls. The electricity kept cutting out, and a gas generator under the windows brought noise and exhaust fumes. It’s well outside town and difficult to reach, even for a local driver using navigation.

We arrived at 8 pm after our original accommodation fell through, and the staff managed to set up a second room for us. The pool was enjoyable, and the views from the balconies were lovely, though the balcony doors swung open and closed a bit. Breakfast was a good-sized serving, not as huge as some we’d had, and was the same both days. The place is a little outside Kandy, up winding hills if you’re driving yourself. They prefer cash payment.
