Kynrock Hotels & Resorts

We stayed for two nights in Feb 26 as part of a larger group, five couples with the same list of problems. This new hotel wasn’t ready for customers. If they couldn’t get the basics right after 9 months, I can only see things getting worse. We were all on the 4th floor. The lifts stopped a few hours after we arrived and never started again, so we had to go up and down four floors repeatedly. I’m an amputee, which made this a real issue. In every room, hot water ran out after a couple of minutes. The bathroom smelled of sewage, possibly from the open pipe in the floor. Door locks stuck, and we got trapped in our room twice, unable to get out onto the balcony. Towel rails fell off the walls, and our room safe didn’t work. There was a sign for “Bar Ground Floor,” but the bar was actually on the 1st floor, unfinished and unstocked. The drinks list had about 30 things on it, but only 5 or 6 were available. After our safari, we all got back at the same time and none of our electric keys worked. We had to walk down to the ground floor to have them reprogrammed, then back up for a cold shower to wash off the dust. I’m very confused how anyone who has stayed in a hotel before could rate this 5 stars. My guess would have to be paid reviews.

We were kindly brought rice and curry when we arrived near lunchtime, even though we had booked half board and this was arranged over the phone. After our 5.30 am safari to Yala, we got back past 11.00 am and the staff had saved food for us from the breakfast buffet. I stayed at Kynrock Kataragama with my husband and little daughter last weekend and we had a really pleasant experience. It’s close to the town center, so very convenient. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean, and there’s a lovely pool too. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It’s a great place to stay, and we’d highly recommend it.

We stayed as a large group across 12 rooms of different types, and had an amazing time. The front and back views of the hotel were peaceful and calming, and the gym has excellent equipment with a beautiful view of the pool and hotel. The rooms had very clean, modern amenities. Half board included great food options, and the on-site manager Mahinda and team gave exceptional service throughout. Everything about the place was great. Some of our best days in Sri Lanka, and we’d definitely stay again.

The peaceful setting among lush paddy fields made our stay feel wonderfully calm. Kynrock Hotels & Resorts in Katharagama is also ideally placed, just moments from the magnificent Katharagama temple and the ancient Kiriwehera temple. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and every meal we had was delicious. We also enjoyed the modern gym. It’s a comfortable, relaxing place to stay in Katharagama, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.
