Pleasant Park Holiday Inn

We really enjoyed our stay, and the family running the place treated us so kindly. The hostel is basic, with no air conditioning in our room, but the price was good. Its location worked well: close to the beach, bus terminal, a local restaurant, a supermarket, and plenty of other places to eat. There were dozens of ants and a few spiders in our room, though, and lots of insects seem to get inside. They can help arrange things like laundry or tours. We rented a motorbike from a place they suggested; it was very old, but caused us no problems. The garden is lovely, and we especially liked the affectionate cat who lived there as a visitor, even though it wasn't theirs. Thanks so much!

It's easy to find a tuk-tuk on the main road, including for a trip to Nilaveli, and there are good restaurants close by. The hosts are really nice and can help with all sorts of things. The room and bathroom were clean, but it stayed very hot despite having a fan.

The owners were wonderful and made our stay comfortable and worthwhile. This is a clean, comfortable base in Trimcomalee if you're keeping to a budget and mainly need somewhere to sleep and shower between outings. If a more luxurious stay is what you want, this may not suit you.

The family who run this place are lovely, and Theepan helped me with everything I needed. His wife was also a big help when I found a little stray puppy outside their house last night. The puppy slept in their garden until the dog shelter picked him up the next morning. It's a quiet, clean place, close to everyday services like banks, supermarkets, and pharmacies, and just a short walk from one of the main beautiful beaches. If you're stopping in Trincomalee for a couple of nights, I'd highly recommend staying here. The atmosphere was warm and the people very kind, as often happens in Sri Lanka. I don't think you'd regret spending time here.
