Mirissa Village

The staff were exceptionally helpful when we needed them. We only spent one night here in late December 2023, but the room was comfortable, clean, and roomy. The description mentioned beach views, while our room looked more onto the back streets, which could leave some guests disappointed or feeling misled. The beach is close, about 100m away.

Kama was quick to help and arranged a taxi for us within moments. When our room felt too hot, they moved us to a cooler one right away, no questions asked. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space, with the beach right beside the property. I thought it was a little expensive for what you get. Breakfast was disappointing too. Our confirmation mentioned an English breakfast, but we were told it was only available for $25USD and wasn't included. In the end it wasn't available at all, since they didn't have the ingredients until the next day.

The staff were very welcoming, and they found us a good taxi deal for Hikkaduwa. Breakfast was good, and the beach was about a 45 second walk away through the adjacent Paragon Hotel. We stayed three nights in Jan 2020 and had no problems with the clean rooms or bathrooms. The property seemed newly built, with fresh paint, new bathroom fittings, and big but basic rooms. The new AC cooled the room amazingly fast, in about 10 minutes. The only trouble was the strong disinfectant smell at first. We had to open the doors and windows to air the rooms out. Apart from that, a perfect spot for a budget traveller.

For our group, this was great value for the price. The beach is a minute away, and the newly renovated rooms are spacious. The shower has no door, so water gets all over the bathroom. Breakfast is quite limited, just fruit, toast, fried eggs, and tea or coffee.
