We liked this place! We stayed in April 2013. The rooms were new, clean, and tidy, and there was free Wi-Fi. It was 100 meters from the beach. There was no AC, but the owners were a nice, friendly family.

This place no longer exists. The owner has died, and the apartment we booked through Airbnb was instantly confirmed. When we arrived, new owners were renovating it. Be careful about booking Randy house. It may soon reopen under a new name after the renovation.

The big garden gives you some distance from the other guesthouses, so there’s a bit more privacy while keeping that homestay feel. My room was clean and cheap, and the people were really, really friendly. The food was tasty too, especially the Sri Lanka Breakfast, which I’d suggest ordering. This is my favorite place in Mirissa. Thanks for such a nice stay!

The price was really cheap, 10 Euro a night for the room and services, and the owner was friendly and answered questions honestly. For instance, they can tell you REAL fruit prices because traders may quote foreigners prices several times higher. Requests for cleaning, fresh towels or sheets, laundry, and dinner were handled quickly. It’s just a two minute walk to the beach, and the national dishes you can order were delicious. The rooms were too small for two big beds, and you have to ask for cleaning or fresh towels and sheets. In a room on the second floor of a separate house, there was a water problem: you had to go downstairs and press a button, then press it again to turn it off. We asked to move and got a room with A/C. It’s a good choice if you want a cheap room near the beach, or need somewhere for your first few days in Mirissa while you look for a longer stay. The price is very reasonable. I’d also suggest going straight to a place to talk with the owner and bargain instead of using a mediator to find a house or room.
