Summer Breeze Guest House

Priyanka, who looks after the place, was really kind to us and made a wonderful breakfast. Her kitchen was one of the cleanest I saw in Sri Lanka. The location is lovely, in a quiet area just past Mirissa, right by the water with a wonderful view. The rooms are very basic, but nice, and the hospitality was very good.

We chose the hotel based on its photos, but the place we found looked nothing like them. We had booked expecting a balcony with a beach view, then were told those rooms weren’t available. I don’t understand how that could happen when we booked on the promise of a beach-view room. Instead, we were pushed toward a room where the AC didn’t work. The caretaker said they’d call someone to fix it, but the mechanic never showed up. A pile of sand blocked the beach view, which they attributed to the rainy season. The hotel should explain these conditions instead of making false promises on its website and giving guests substandard rooms.

Assante, the hotel manager, was incredibly helpful and arranged whatever we wanted or needed. He also makes the best smoothies. We had a wonderful time in a cosy place with a nice garden, clean, comfortable ocean-view rooms, and a very good breakfast. If you’re in Merissa, this is the best place to stay, with the best view.

Asa was a great host, friendly and ready to help however he could. We also enjoyed the breakfast. The rooms were nice and had hot water in the showers, and the hotel sits right in front of the ocean. One of the best places we stayed in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended.
