Agandau House

The staff were warm, thoughtful, and attentive throughout, and the food was delicious. The view was spectacular, especially when fireworks lit the sky across the water. I spent my birthday night at Agandau House, and the team surprised me with a beautiful, tasty cake that made the evening feel extra special. Every corner had a feeling of luxurious comfort, and I found the stay wonderfully relaxing. I'd wholeheartedly recommend it for a peaceful, memorable getaway.

The romantic dinner was a highlight, with fresh crab and live music making for such a thoughtful, lovely evening. Staff were kind and attentive, and every detail felt carefully handled. They also arranged private yoga sessions, which were relaxing and memorable, plus a private airport pick-up and drop-off and a tailored Colombo city tour with a private guide. A highly recommended choice for a luxurious, personal stay. 💕

We felt at home thanks to the staff, who did all they could to help us, and the owner looked after her guests every day. The food was delicious and the chef highly qualified. The setting is beautiful, on the lagoon with the beach across the way. It's about 40 minutes by car from the airport. 🌸🫂🙌🏻

The staff made our unexpected week here a delight, and we came away with new friends. We arrived by chance after flight disruptions caused by the Middle East crisis, thinking we'd need a one-night refuge. This is a spot worth considering at the beginning or end of a Sri Lanka holiday. The house sits between the lagoon, which faces the airport, and the beach, 150m across the main road. Mornings bring crows, egrets, koels, and the occasional pelican, with fishing boats heading down the lagoon. Watching the sun come through the haze with a soft, cooling breeze was lovely. Upstairs there are 5/6 bedrooms and a shared shady terrace. The rooms are immaculately equipped, with well-planned plugs and lights and quiet, efficient aircon. Downstairs, the large pool is surrounded by garden loungers. Shade is a bit limited, but there's enough to go around. The owner Louise has left her beautiful Arabic design throughout the house, and manager Vinod keeps everything running efficiently. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Kumari deserves a special mention for warm-hearted housekeeping, as does Cavishan, the sweet waiter who's on call all day and night. Thank you both. Breakfast portions are huge and tasty, and dinner can be varied beyond the menu if you ask ahead. The chefs cook very well. Thanks too to Kasun (chef), Anton (security), and gardeners and handymen Nisansala, Arangey, and the others who helped us. Our enforced stay brought us a number of, hopefully, lifelong friends, made possible by the outstanding service from everyone.
