Angel Inn Guest House

Good value for money, close to the beach, and very clean. We had a lovely verandah to sit out on. Fabulous place.

For sunshine, there’s a rooftop terrace, and each room has a laid-back veranda out front. Rooms are spacious, tiled, clean, and a good deal, with A/C and a fan, hot water, and mostly quality wooden furniture. Mosquito nets are definitely needed and are already set over every bed. The closet could use replacing with an open wooden setup or clothes rail. The beach is just 50 meters away, though it’s a bit dirty, and swimming during rainy season isn’t possible because rain washes dirt into the sea. Internet worked perfectly, especially in rooms 4, 5 and 6, with the router right outside. The owners, kind Marcus & Rita, let you do your own thing and leave you in peace. Airport transfer took 19 minutes after 22:00, for 5.000LKR in an A/C car. Negombo was more relaxing in November, when there weren't too many tourists around. Lots of restaurants, both local and tourist places, are on the main road within a 1-15 minute walk. Zen Café is close by and has fantastic food. Prego costs more, but has the best taste. Local kothu roti shops near Bologna Lane serve delicious ghee parata cheaply. A beer shop is five minutes away, and the supermarket is 40 meters away.

The Angel Inn arranged a taxi to collect us after we landed at Columbo airport, and we were in our room quickly. They brought chilled water and switched on the air con, which we really needed. The room was spacious, bright, clean, and tidy, with a comfortable bed and a good mosquito net. We heard little road noise and slept well. When we mentioned flying ants in one bathroom, they promptly gave us fly spray. A restful night in relaxing surroundings. Photos show the single room with air con.

We had no complaints, which is why I’m giving Angel Inn five stars. It’s a clean, safe place, and the rooms are in very good condition compared with others in the area. The staff are kind and friendly.
