The bedroom staff were consistently caring and a real credit to the hotel. Other staff were warm and generous too, especially Dimal at the Beach Deck bar, though service elsewhere was hit and miss. Sometimes it was first rate, but more often poor, with long waits for drinks. The setting is idyllic, with every room looking past palm-fringed beach out to sea. The food was wonderful. Dahan at the front desk gave us legendary service, and we really enjoyed the stay. The staff and location deserve 5 stars. I’d take one star off for the room: the floor felt very slippery, and I missed having a handheld shower.

Dinithi made us feel welcome and at ease from the moment we arrived, and Sarath looked after us throughout the meal with friendly, professional, attentive service. Chef Samantha and Chef Lakmal also deserve a special thank you. We mentioned the Sago Pudding we’d had back in February, even though we knew it wasn’t on the menu anymore, and they made it fresh for us today. That kind of care and flexibility really stood out. The team made the visit feel special, and we’ll absolutely come back and recommend the place to people who appreciate good food and genuine hospitality. Thanks to everyone for making it such a lovely experience.

Breakfast could be a lot better. There were only small amounts of continental items out at a time, especially from the cold section, and the hot food was lukewarm. Fewer dishes made better, and served hotter, would help. At the Beach Deck, most meals were good value for hotel prices, with excellent salads and poke bowls, plus burgers. But the cheese and tomato bruschetta was disappointing: four small squares of ordinary sliced bread, really just one slice with the crusts cut off, topped with a little tomato and cheese. It cost the same as a burger with chips or a large salad. The hotel sits just back from a nice beach, with well-kept grounds and pool. There are lots of bars and restaurants within an easy walk, and Yaaga was the standout we found. It’s next to sister hotel Jetwing Blue, whose facilities guests can also use. The rooms are large and have what you’d expect from a high-class hotel, though I’m not sure it fully deserves five stars. Some parts feel dated, but that didn’t spoil the visit. Service was generally good: Malaka at the Beach deck bar was excellent, and Dahan at reception was helpful. Reception overall was slow, though, and I ended up carrying my own luggage because it had been forgotten. Good value overall. Attention to the small details expected of a five-star place would help it meet that rating.
