Omenco Hotel Nuwaraeliya

The owner told us to “leave if you don’t like it” when we asked, politely, for clean sheets or another room. He interrupted, yelled, insulted and mocked us, and spoke in offensive language. His loud, intimidating manner made us feel unwelcome. I've never met a hotel owner who behaved so aggressively. We didn't feel safe, respected, or treated like paying guests. It was a stressful and disappointing stay. The photos online made the place look modern, clean, and comfortable, but our room was small, filthy, and poorly maintained. It smelled damp and moldy, and the stained, smelly bed linen looked used and unchanged before we arrived. Towels were dirty and worn, there was mold in the bathroom corners, and the floor seemed not to have been cleaned for days. It looked like there'd been no proper housekeeping. Cleanliness is a basic hotel requirement, yet it was ignored. The hotel uses misleading photos, then gives guests dirty rooms and abusive service. I usually try to be fair in reviews, but I feel I have to warn others.

The owner's response to our complaint was aggressive and completely disrespectful. We asked staff for fresh linen or a room change, and instead he raised his voice and used offensive language. No guest should be treated that way for bringing up a valid concern. The room was foul and musty as soon as we opened the door, as if it hadn't been cleaned or aired in weeks. The bed linen smelled dirty and was stained, and seemed not to have been changed after the previous guest. The old, stained towels smelled just as bad. In the bathroom, we found mold on the walls, a dirty sink, and broken fittings. Hygiene clearly wasn't a priority. We regretted booking from the moment we arrived. I rarely post negative reviews, but this was too awful to ignore.

The kids were happiest at the pool and activity center, and the adults had plenty to enjoy too. Our spacious family suite gave everyone room, with a mini-kitchen as well. Omenco hotel worked really well for our family vacation. It's a short walk from family-friendly attractions like , and the staff were accommodating, suggesting activities and helping with special requests. We had a great getaway and plan to come back on our next vacation.

At Omenco, the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well equipped, and the food was fantastic. Every facility was in excellent condition, which made our weekend relaxing and enjoyable. The staff were attentive and welcoming too. Highly recommend it for a getaway!
