Ragith Villa

Ragith Villa is a comfortable, budget-friendly homestay, with both double and family rooms. The hosts are friendly and very helpful, and the rooms and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. It’s just minutes from Nuwara Eliya town and Gregory Park, which makes the location convenient.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the place felt very safe and secure. The owners are kind and helpful, and the staff are great. The villa is close to tea plantations, the lake, and a lovely walking route. There are also two stores nearby, plus a fruit and vegetable vendor with great products and prices. A few restaurants are a short walk away. The road up to the villa is steep but easy to manage.

We visited on the 6th of April, and our experience wasn’t good at all. The electricity circuit system was awful, and the hot water didn’t work properly, so we had to shower in freezing cold water. They initially agreed to provide a cook, then withdrew that at the very last moment. The lady managing the villa responded to our problems quite disappointingly, and the carpets in one room smelled of urine. It didn’t meet our expectations, and we wouldn’t recommend this villa to anybody. ☹️

I stayed one night with my closest family members. The owner had said breakfast could be provided, and sent me menu cards before we booked. But after we arrived, she said she couldn’t make the items we’d chosen and could only provide Kiribath, even though the menu listed many options. In the morning, my mom went to the bathroom and found no water in the comed tank. When I told the owner, she said she had switched off the pressure pump overnight. If she’d told us that in advance, my mom wouldn’t have had that trouble. I can’t recommend this place to a family looking for a decent stay.
