Hotel The Hill Club

Hassim's guided tour was a highlight. He explained the history and small details of the place so well. We also loved dining here, thanks to Chathuranga & Vicknesh, and you can choose to have the high tea collection they serve. The Hill Club feels more like an experience than just a hotel. Its colonial-era character is beautifully preserved, and being there feels like stepping into history. It's not a modern luxury hotel, and that's part of its charm. A great place to relax and take in the atmosphere.

We turned up at the Hill Club without a booking with our three grown-up sons, unexpectedly needing somewhere to stay, and they gave us the warmest welcome. I'm so glad our plans changed. Without doubt, this was one of the highlights of our trip. The Hill Club is a gem, a stunning building full of character and history. Don't miss Hassim's excellent guided tour. We had delicious food in the beautiful formal dining room, with a roaring fire. The beef was wonderful, and Omaya made an outstanding chocolate dessert. Our waiter Dayalan provided excellent service. The bedrooms were delightful, too, and all the service was outstanding. They brought hot water bottles to our beds and provided jackets and ties. It was a wonderful stay. We wish the Hill Club all the best for the future.

The staff were very well mannered and helpful. They brought hot bags to warm the beds, though the rooms also have heaters. The rooms are nice and elegant, especially the lobby. Breakfast was nice, but in my opinion the taste could be improved. It's a heritage hotel with modern amenities and elegance. It's a members-only club, with a dress code for dinner and the bar in the evening, though the casual bar has no such restriction. Only foreigners can book a stay. We really enjoyed our visit and would recommend it for a taste of the colonial architecture and elegance.

The setting is fantastic, and the food and service are nice. Kavinda at reception showed us the history of the Hill Clubs and was very dedicated.
