Villa Dewasiri

We’d phoned the day before and booked three rooms, and the owner confirmed them, but when we arrived the next day, the woman there apologized and said they couldn’t host us. They’d accepted another online booking, apparently because of a miscommunication between her and her husband, the owner. We asked if she could help us find any other available rooms nearby, but peak season meant there were none. They offered their Hikkaduwa villa instead, 30 km away. We had to return to Galle and were lucky to find another villa through a friend that night. This kind of mistake shouldn’t happen. They need to know the basics of hospitality.

For a quiet place away from everything, Villa Dewasiri fits the bill. The rooms have what you need, with lovely decor and a super-comfy bed, but keep in mind there’s no TV or fridge in the room. Breakfast was wow, so filling that you won’t want lunch that day. The garden is beautiful, and you might spot a mongo. The best part is definitely the staff, who make you feel at home. Arumi cooks a delicious breakfast and always serves it with a smile. They’re preparing a yoga corner too. Go if you’re looking to relax!

The garden and peaceful setting were lovely, and the room had a beautiful, modern design. The bathroom was gorgeous, and the balcony was a great place to relax. The staff were very friendly, and the bed was the best we had in Sri Lanka.
