Ruwan Jungle Homestay

We booked at the last minute after canceling our mountain floating villa in the tea area, and we’re so glad we did. Ruwan was incredibly kind and welcoming, and really cared about our comfort. He did his best to meet our requests, helped arrange turtle swimming, and booked a massage for me. His hospitality made everything feel easy and stress-free. Highly recommended!

Waking up to monkeys playing in the trees was lovely. The place is in the jungle, and our room was spacious and very clean, with AC that worked well. The fridge was stocked with chilled water, and we especially liked the coconut pancakes at breakfast. Ruwan was a wonderful, helpful host. We’d bought some fruit on the way that wasn’t ripe, so he arranged replacements and made us a smoothie. We talked about our travel plans, and he suggested great turtle spots and arranged a river and lake safari, including transport to our next place. He came along too and made sure we were happy. We had an unforgettable time. I can’t recommend Ruwan Jungle Homestay enough. Thank you, Ruwan, for making our dreams come true. We’ll come back, hopefully soon!

We only stayed two days at Ruwan’s place and wished we could have stayed longer. The room was just what we expected, and breakfast was tasty and good. Ruwan was a great host, very helpful, and easy to communicate with, so everything went smoothly. We went snorkeling with him and were lucky enough to see a huge turtle and beautiful 🐠 🐟. We’d happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

The outdoor breakfast spot among the trees was one of our favorite parts. Breakfast was exceptional every morning, and there’s a hammock where my son spent hours relaxing. The whole family made us feel at home. Ruwan’s mother-in-law shared her incredible home cooking with us, including full dinners on some days and a special Poya day meal. Their children played with and looked after my son at breakfast, which meant so much to us. Ruwan and his family are hardworking, kind, always smiling, and their genuine care is inspiring. Try their home-cooked Sri Lankan meals, they’re delicious. Thank you, Ruwan and family, for such a beautiful, memorable stay. We’ll definitely be back. The property feels like a peaceful spot in nature, surrounded by lush greenery with squirrels and the occasional monkey. It was noticeably cooler than the rest of Mirissa. We had a spacious, comfortable ground floor apartment with two large beds and a newly renovated bathroom. Reliable hot water was a big plus, which isn’t very common in Sri Lanka. There was a fully equipped kitchen and a fridge stocked with cold water, and it felt like home as soon as we arrived. The location felt safe and lively, just a minute from the main road. Ruwan provided a scooter at a very reasonable price, which made getting around easy. Strong AC, mosquito nets, and all the amenities we needed were there too. Ruwan was in touch from a week before our trip to check in and get things ready. He even picked us up from the railway station himself and helped with our bags. That care continued throughout our unforgettable stay.
