Blue Corals Beach Bungalow

The refurbished rooms are top quality for a very reasonable price, and the restaurant is comfortable and fully air-conditioned. You can walk straight onto what I think is the best beach in the area. Nishanta and Saranga still give a really friendly welcome. Saranga made a meal to suit my taste and preferred spice level. If you’re staying in Polhena or Madhea, I highly recommend Blue Corals beach bungalow.

The rooms have just been refurbished, with a very comfortable mattress, good pillows, a great ocean-side balcony, and the best multi-function shower you’ll find anywhere. There’s plenty of wildlife nearby, and Nishantha cares deeply about conservation and can show you good places to see turtles, porcupines, monitor lizards, and more. The beach is almost private, and the hosts, Nishantha and Saranga, went out of their way to make our stay better. Saranga is a fantastic cook. Her cashew and fish curries, rice and curry, and fresh lobster from the reef were all next level. We’ve already put this on our list for our next Sri Lanka visit.

I’d stayed here before, but the new, fully refurbished Blue Corals bungalows are amazing. The rooms are better than almost anywhere I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka, and the prices are very competitive. Saranga and Nishantha are lovely people and brilliant hosts who’ll go out of their way to make the stay memorable. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely come back soon.

We’ve been visiting Sri Lanka for more than ten years, and Blue Corals restaurant is one we rate highly. It has moved across from the hotel, and Saranga is an amazing cook. Her cashew curry was so good that we kept returning and didn’t want to eat anywhere else.
