Domaine du Moulin d'Asselborn

The breakfast buffet was good, and the restaurant excellent. The staff were very friendly. It’s well placed for Wiltz, the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Bastogne Belgium.

We slept well in a comfortable bed, and the clean room and ensuite were warm. The location was lovely and quiet. The restaurant was excellent, with a very good selection of beer and wine.

The old water mill at Domaine du Moulin d’Asselborn gives the place a strong sense of history, and you can imagine the travelers who once used the ancient postal route from Antwerp to Rome. The hotel sits among the green hills of northern Luxembourg, and staying there felt storybook-like. My room was simple but full of character, with wooden beams, creaky floorboards and a view of the stream that once powered the mill. With the windows open at night, all I heard was wind in the trees and the river rustling. It was deeply peaceful, as if time had slowed for a moment. The food was honest and satisfying. I felt at home by the hearth with trout and local wine. A walk along the trails behind the property in the morning made it clear why people fall in love with this place. It isn’t flashy or luxurious, but it has soul. I’ll carry Moulin d’Asselborn with me.

The food was fairly priced, carefully done and didn’t overpromise. The wines were well chosen and served, and I’m looking forward to dinner here again. We just had a lovely meal at the moulin, whose authentic atmosphere I love. Set in a valley, its old walls make for a beautiful, unique place to sit and order from a sober, polished menu.
