Cocoon Hotel Belair

The hotel has a cozy, homey interior, and there's plenty to do in the natural surroundings. We booked through Social Deal for a long weekend, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The spa is about 400 meters from the hotel. It has a sauna and two steam cabins, with towels and water bottles provided. I liked having hooks by the door. The main things I missed were air conditioning or another way to control the room temperature, and tea or coffee facilities in the room. You can borrow a kettle at reception.

It's a lovely place to stay with a pet, as plenty of other guests bring theirs too. The surroundings are quiet and away from the road, with a scenic view, and the staff are kind and helpful. Breakfast was good. Dinner, though, didn't quite match its price in terms of quality. They do have chargers on site, but they are very expensive: €0.77 per kWh as of June 2025.

The room was nicely decorated, but it was very warm and parts of the floor were damaged or missing. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, and we found lunch a bit expensive. When checking out, I didn't look at the bill closely enough: they'd charged us €23 for a salad we never had. I won't book here again. A great location alone isn't enough to make it a five-star hotel. The stay got off to a bad start when we were told they'd overbooked the superior room and wanted to put us in a lesser one, without mentioning any compensation. I pushed back and manager Mark became irritated, raised his voice, and said the overbooking wasn't his fault. He did eventually give us the correct room. At dinner he still seemed unhappy with us and was rude and annoyed when we didn't know our room number, repeatedly pressuring us. I've never met a manager this rude. Unfortunately, the same issue spoiled check-in and the dinner service.

After a long day hiking the trail, we stopped for one night. The view is stunning, and there's direct access to a stream with a nice place to sit by the water or use the swing. You can also use the sauna and tennis courts. Breakfast was great, and the rooms and showers were quite nice. Service was okay. Lovely hotel, highly recommend.
