Cocoon Hotel La Rive

We had a very pleasant stay. The bar area was lovely, the bartenders friendly, and both the surroundings and exterior were gorgeous. Breakfast had lots of choice and was good quality. The rooms were very nice, although there were a few small dents on the doors or walls; honestly, they didn't affect our experience at all. I was personally surprised by reviews describing the staff as cold or impersonal. Over the last few days, I experienced the opposite. Lovely people.

The restaurant was first-rate. The food tasted great and was presented well, and even the desk clerk, who was also the maître d', was pleasant and helpful there. The room was adequate, with a great bed and a pleasant river view, though there was chipped paint in the bathroom. It was starting to look worn around the edges, which isn't what I expect from a four-star hotel. Check-in was a real letdown. During the several-minute process, the clerk barely looked at us and seemed more interested in the computer than the guests. It felt like a cold welcome for an alleged four-star hotel. He answered questions curtly, though perhaps he was struggling with English.

The location is beautiful, our room was properly cleaned and prepared, and it had a lovely nature view. Breakfast was provided without any complaints. There were a few minor issues during the stay, but none bothered us as much as the receptionist's attitude when we left. It made me wonder whether I'd choose this place again. One person can really damage a hotel's reputation and affect whether you return. I can only imagine how it would have felt if the same person had greeted us on arrival. The receptionists on the first two days were exceptional, respectful, and ready to provide the information we needed. On the third morning, a blond woman was super friendly and helpful, five stars. But at 12:00 on 17.09.2025, as we were leaving, an older man at reception was arrogant, rude, disrespectful, and uncooperative. He was actually the first receptionist we'd encountered. That was not a good impression for a four-star hotel.

The location is tucked into a quiet valley surrounded by nature. Our chalet had all the luxuries we needed, and the spa was really great. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious. The icing on the cake was the service from Olivier and Catherine, among others. We had a fantastic time and will definitely come back.
