Hanza Hotel

The elevators were fast, and the beds were fine, but we could have used extra pillows and duvets. We stayed two nights, or three days, and had no room service at all, despite asking and leaving the door sticker out. Towels weren't changed, and the floors were dirty, especially with winter sleet outside. There was no AC either. Only one of the three receptionists we met was friendly. The other two seemed grumpy and weren't willing to help. The bathroom was cramped, and the bathtub wasn't suitable for showering because it left a “lake” on the floor. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you want a pleasant stay in Riga.

It's an okay option for a short visit. The location is convenient, with easy access to places and everything within walking distance. Staff were polite and helpful, but breakfast was very basic, with only a small selection. The building looks modern outside, while the rooms are very plain inside. The mattress was really hard and uncomfortable.

The room was clean and tidy, with tea and coffee facilities, big radiators for heating, and large windows with pull-down blinds. The bathroom was adequate, the shower was hot, and towels and toiletries were supplied. Reception staff were kind and helpful. There's a lift to the different floors, and rooms use card entry. Checkout was around midday. It's a decent enough hotel, not too far from Riga's old town. Breakfast is included and served in a good-sized downstairs room alongside the hotel's own pub.

For a three-star place, this is very good value. It's a lovely little hotel just outside the old town, with easy airport access. The staff were friendly, the heating was just right, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast is included too.
