Riga Centre Hotel E2

The room was roomy and comfortable, with everything working properly: WiFi, a shower, fridge, and stove. The bed was just right, not too hard or soft. It was also warm enough even though all the rooms are in the basement, and the area felt fairly safe. For a city centre stay, the price was very good, especially on a summer trip. The main drawback was thin soundproofing. I could hear someone practicing piano. It wasn't a big issue if you're out enjoying Riga much of the time.

There are lots of friendly people, lovely greenery, and plenty of different places to choose from. The historic buildings and architecture are beautiful, and everything seemed very clean. Eating outside was less pleasant because smoke from nearby smokers kept drifting over. As an asthmatic, I found that really nasty. Music was also too loud in many places, including outdoor seating. We did find a few quieter spots, though there weren't many.

I love Riga and E2, but this year there were too many insects and the humidity was a problem. If you're sensitive to wearing masks during the day, bear in mind there's only a ventilator to dry or warm the place. I'd suggest asking for a mop and insect repellent.

The entrance was hard to find. It's in the basement of an apartment block, with no hotel name or entrance sign. We went around the whole building three times and only located it with help from Google Images. It's self check-in with pin codes and no staff, but we received the codes only after calling the manager directly. The English support number doesn't work.
