Wellton Centrum Hotel & Spa

Breakfast had plenty of choice and was great, and the location was excellent. The rooms are a bit small. The spa was disappointing, though. It was crowded, noisy, and small, with only about 16 loungers for everyone, and swimming lessons were happening too. It didn’t feel relaxing. If it comes with your room, have a look, but I wouldn’t pay extra for it.

The location is great and the staff were helpful, but the noise really got to us. I’ve stayed at other Wellton hotels before, and this one let me down. The walls seemed paper-thin, and our neighbors talked all day, so bring noise-cancelling headphones. The hairdryer didn’t work, but staff quickly gave us another one. The room also wasn’t very clean: there was mold in the shower and sink corners, and a previous guest’s hair gel packet was left on the floor. Breakfast was okay but packed, and people had to wait for tables. The website advertised gluten-free food, but there weren’t any options. The SPA was tiny and crowded, with drunk guests shouting even in the sauna. We only stayed about 20 minutes because it wasn’t relaxing at all.

At the discounted rate, I felt the stay was worth paying for, but I wouldn’t pay the full price. The premises weren’t very clean, and I expected more from a 4-star hotel. The room was ordinary. The SPA is tiny but pleasant, though the shower walls there hadn’t been cleaned. Water also drained slowly in both the room and SPA showers. It costs 18 euros per person, and I’m not sure that’s the best deal, since there seem to be better options nearby if you’re staying at the hotel.

The rooms were adequate, the food was okay, and the music was really good. But the checkout mix-up on New Year’s was frustrating. We’d asked at check-in and were told checkout was at 1 o’clock. Around noon we were then told to leave. Fortunately, my wife was out with plans until 1, but she had to rush back. The receptionist handled it quite rudely, and I expected an apology that never came.
