Mrs. Nouhayla Elkamal was especially welcoming and helped us with everything. She was very professional, and the staff and service in general made the outside noise easier to put up with. Many thanks to her, and apologies if I’ve got the spelling wrong. We had a lovely stay at Occidental Casablanca. The rooms were clean and well kept, and the beds were comfortable. There was, though, more noise from outside than we would have liked.

The restaurant was a pleasant surprise, and good value too. The tagine was the best I’ve had so far in Casablanca, and my octopus was quite good. They don’t serve alcohol, though there are hotel bars nearby. Meryem at the desk was a jewel, and the staff really made the stay. Our room was cool, quiet, clean, and well equipped for the price. A little odd that there’s no chair or table when room service is offered. The location is close to perfect. Construction around the soccer stadium makes getting around on foot or by taxi awkward, and the Old Souk is maybe a fifteen minute walk away. We’d come back.

The sheets felt old and scratchy, and there was barely any hand soap when we arrived. The body soap was watered down as well. The shower had no hot water at first. I asked reception three times before they got it working, and even then the pressure was very low. The hotel photographs look nice, but a lot of small problems added up to a really unpleasant stay. It’s in a very seedy area, with few restaurants nearby. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
