Getting here was tricky since Google Maps sent me to an unrelated restaurant. Luckily, someone took the time to lead me to the right place. The riad has a lovely rooftop terrace where you can catch the sunrise, sunset, or both. The regular breakfast was very satisfying, and the staff were helpful. When I had to leave early for a tour, Yunus packed breakfast for me to take along: yogurt, a banana, and a packaged snack. That was thoughtful. The family room bathroom is a bit cramped, with the shower and bathroom doors getting in each other’s way. The sink leaked a little, though I’m sure they’ll fix it.

We stayed four nights and had a great time. The staff were wonderful and very helpful, and you can order food to eat on the rooftop, with its stunning view over the whole Medina and the surrounding landscape. We’ll definitely come back.

We arrived around midnight after a very late flight and were greeted with traditional mint tea. Our host had said we could arrive at any time, and the welcome, the friendly staff, and the level of service really impressed us. The place was nicely decorated, breakfast was good, and we had no issues. The host was happy to arrange any request, including a taxi to the airport in the middle of the night, which is hard to manage as a foreigner. The bed may feel a little hard if you’re not used to it, though it was fine for me. Winter nights can get a bit cold, so just ask for another blanket. I’d recommend staying here.

I had to extend my trip by one night after my flight was rescheduled, so I ended up booking Ahl Tadla because I didn’t have another choice. I’d spent the other two nights at a different riad, and the contrast in service was noticeable. The staff here seemed cold and unprofessional, didn’t explain anything about the Riad, asked for our passports and tax, then forgot to give me a key until I asked. At the previous place, they welcomed me, explained the hotel and surroundings, and handed over the key. They also didn’t provide bath soap. When I asked, they said the hand soap by the sink was for bathing too. The shower tap was difficult to adjust, and the room was dim, especially not ideal for a family with children. We were charged an extra 80 Dirhams for the four of us, me, my husband, and our two children. I knew about the tax during booking, but in seven days in Morocco, across four hotels, apartments, and riads, this was the only accommodation that charged it, so I was disappointed. The Riad was also more expensive than my earlier place in Fes, my hotel in Tanger, which was the same size and more comfortable, and my apartment in Rabat, which had more facilities and a larger area with a kitchen and balkon. I felt it was OVERPRICED. They charged my credit card before we arrived, while I paid on arrival at the other places. Maybe that’s tolerable, but after comparing them, it didn’t seem common in Morocco. If you still have a choice, look at another Riad. There are lots in Fes, and you can choose one that suits you better.

Five of us spent two nights here, and I’d happily stay again. The building is beautiful and a welcome break from the heat of the streets. Our room had free air conditioning, the WiFi was quick, and breakfast was freshly made by a lovely woman and tasted great to start the day. Yunes was a great host. I can’t believe the place is only rated 3.2, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay.
