Riad Al Makan

The meal we had on arrival night was fantastic, warm and full of flavor. The local dishes tasted as authentic as the ones we tried elsewhere in Morocco. Beef with Caramelized Quinces was new to us, a tender slow-cooked beef dish with soft golden quince and a honeyed sweetness that made a refreshing savory-sweet combination. The Fassi Pastilla was enjoyable too, though the white mushroom spaghetti for our kid was pretty average. The team were friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. The location is close to the main street, so we didn't have to haul our bags through the medina, and staff helped carry them, which we appreciated. Riad AlMakan has a classic feel, with lovely decor around an inner courtyard. Our spacious room overlooked the courtyard. It was comfortable, though parts of the infrastructure seemed dated, some appliances poorly maintained, and the bathroom needed minor upkeep. It was clean, but there were black spots of fungus on the rubber sealings and the tiles could have been cleaned more thoroughly. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly recommend it to friends. The staff were outstanding, and the local food was excellent and comforting.

My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Al Makan, and we'd definitely return if we came back to Fes. The room was perfect, the whole hotel looked even better than in the pictures, and breakfast was amazing. Every staff member was kind and ready to help. Thanks so much to Moha, Soufiane, Wiame, Said, Walid, Meryeme, and everyone else for making our vacation great.

The location was convenient, about a five-minute walk to the old city gate, with several good restaurants nearby. I stayed for three nights and four days, from March 6 to March 10, 2026. The staff were all friendly, the mosaics and decorations were beautiful, and the bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and left me completely satisfied. I'd definitely stay here again.

The architecture is impressive, the location is good, and staff service is great. The shower worked well, but breakfast was average. Noise was the main problem: the rooms aren't soundproof, so morning setup sounds travel through the open space, and you can hear dinner at night too. People opening and shutting their doors at all hours are audible as well.
