From the moment I arrived, the peaceful atmosphere at Riad Salam Fes made me feel relaxed. The traditional Moroccan architecture is elegant, and the riad is beautiful. The team were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. I recommend it to anyone visiting Fes, and I often suggest it to my clients. It’s a lovely way to enjoy Moroccan charm and comfort. Jasmine made shopping for ingredients at local stores part of the experience, and Fouzie was a fun, talented chef and teacher who’s also a great dancer. We had a wonderful cooking class and loved the unforgettable day. Thanks to Youness for looking after us at the table too. An A+ experience.

We couldn’t unpack, rest, or enjoy our honeymoon, and ended up checking out early. We were offered an upgrade to the Royal Suite, but it didn’t fix the basic problems with cleanliness, service, or hospitality. We expected a refund for the one night we stayed and were told the front desk would process it, but it never came. I also asked to speak with the owner before leaving, and later wanted to follow up with the owner or general manager. Neither was available on site. The general manager said the owner doesn’t speak English, so I don’t know how I’m supposed to communicate with him. There were problems throughout our stay. The sheets in our room were visibly stained, and the manager inspected them and agreed they weren’t acceptable. The replacement sheets brought by staff were dirty too. We were told we’d be moved, then waited more than an hour after a long day of travel, repeatedly calling the front desk for updates. Both the original and upgraded rooms had an overpowering artificial fragrance that made it uncomfortable to breathe and smelled awful. Our room faced the courtyard restaurant, where guests were loudly talking, laughing, and drinking around 11 p.m. We needed to be up at 5 a.m. and couldn’t sleep. We reported the noise, but nothing was done, so we left the room and hotel. Calls to the front desk often went unanswered unless we tried several times about the room issues and noise. The food also showed the same lack of care: we were served bitter, cold black tea when we arrived and checked in, and the meal we ordered was poor. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was so disappointing that I feel I should warn other travelers. This stay fell well below reasonable expectations. The hygiene concerns, poor service, noise, and lack of response made it stressful and uncomfortable instead of relaxing. There are many better options that deserve your hard-earned money, so I’d urge people visiting Fez to consider them carefully.

Jasmine was such a delight throughout the cooking class and filmed much of the fun as we learned. I got to try spices I don’t usually use, then eat what we’d made. We spent a beautiful day on the patio, and I’m so glad I had the chance to take part. 👍❤️

We only came for a dinner reservation and left wishing we’d stayed at the riad. The property is stunning, and the service was excellent. Salma showed us around, then arranged a beautifully set table by the pool. She was so welcoming, and our waiter was kind too, though I’m not sure of his name, maybe Azim. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced.
