The location is excellent if you’re fine with a 25 minute walk to the main tourist areas. It’s outside the Medina, with little shops in the walled neighborhood selling goods and water at local prices, and the mall is about 25 minutes away. The staff were amazing and the riad itself was beautiful. A few things to know: the breakfast called a buffet wasn’t one, and extras, even another coffee, were billed at the end. Local rules say the travel tax applies from age 12, but the owner may ask for tax for younger children unless you discuss it. The shower took time to heat up and then could suddenly get scalding hot, as could the sink water. In cold weather the room air was dry, and heaters made it drier. Staff smoke in the residence. The owner’s dog and cat are friendly with kids. The rooftop is nice but could use some care.

We didn’t feel comfortable or well looked after here. The owners live on the property and tended to get involved in guests’ activities, which made it hard to relax. No one was available to help carry our luggage from the room, and breakfast portions didn’t seem adequate for everyone, so we left unsatisfied. We’d avoid this place, as there are better options nearby.

The breakfast was included and delicious, and the tea was amazing too. The house was really clean, and the hosts were lovely and helpful with all our questions and requests. I stayed five days with a friend, and we both felt very safe. We’d definitely come back, and I recommend it.

We only stayed one night, but the staff made us feel welcome and the setting was lovely. It’s a simple, authentic, very beautiful place. Our room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable, and breakfast was generous and good quality.
