Grand Mogador MENARA

I’ve stayed here twice and both visits were really pleasant. On my first stay I had a small room issue, and Amin sorted it out right away. Abdelhakim and Ouissal at reception looked after me so well. I had an early flight, and Abdelhakim arranged a taxi for 5am and packed breakfast for me to take along. The staff were excellent, and I’ll definitely come back.

The lobby looks nice, but overall I didn’t enjoy the hotel. The rooms were clean, while the rest of the property was very dirty. In the dim hallways, dirt was visible in the carpet. The AC rattled loudly, and the balcony door had old, cracked wood around it that squeaked in strong wind. Breakfast options were okay, though they could be better. I booked partly because of the two pools, then found out the indoor pool is a separate paid experience. The hotel felt overpriced, with facilities lacking. Better to stay elsewhere and save the money.

The rooms were huge, comfortable, and very well kept. There were excellent food choices throughout the day, and they were very affordable. The pool and spa were amazing. It’s a five-star hotel in a safe, well-lit part of the city, with easy access to other areas.

We expected a four- or five-star stay at the Grand Mogador, but our 10 days there were stressful and disappointing, with hygiene issues, poor service, misleading information, and no management accountability. After 24 hours of travel, check-in was difficult. Although our Booking.com reservation allowed two people, we were made to pay an extra full rate, with no flexibility or real effort to resolve it. The room wasn’t clean when we arrived: the toilet was dirty and unflushed. The thermostat didn’t work, and the front desk and maintenance gave different explanations. One said it was designed that way; the other said it was being repaired. The showerhead leaked and was loose, and after waiting a long time for help, we fixed it ourselves. Water later leaked from the ceiling into the entryway, and the AC failed completely. I had to interrupt my fiancé during an important event to let repair staff in, but no manager was available. There was construction waste behind the room door, another housekeeping and safety lapse. We complained repeatedly, but staff didn’t take our concerns seriously. There was no management follow-up, meaningful solution, apology, or resolution. The offers were only a 15% massage discount or an impractical room change mid-stay. The front desk was often down to one staff member, leading to long waits, especially at busy times. Breakfast was the same every day for 10 days, with very limited choice for a hotel of this level. Birds ate from the breakfast buffet, and cats climbed onto poolside tables to eat unattended food, which raised serious hygiene concerns. The stay was uncomfortable, and too many of the problems could have been prevented. I expected much more from a hotel with the Grand Mogador name. I do not recommend staying here unless service, cleanliness, and management improve significantly.
