Hotel Amalay

We didn't use the restaurant, so I can't comment on it. There was no swimming pool like the online pictures showed, and no outdoor space. Reception is open 24/7, and the friendly staff will top up toilet roll or bring towels if needed. It's 40 minutes on foot from the Medina and a 5 minute walk from the airport shuttle (19) stop. The shuttle takes 20-30 minutes and costs just 50MAD for RTN, so I'd recommend it. It's nothing special, just somewhere to sleep, shower, and brush your teeth. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel. The floor wasn't the cleanest, but the sheets and bathroom were decent. The mattress is quite hard, so maybe avoid it if that's not your thing. About what you'd expect from a 3 star hotel :)

The location in gueliz is the best in marrakech, and the service wasn't bad. The rooms weren't very clean.

We had room 107. The back-facing room had no view but was quiet, unlike the noisy rooms at the front. The bed was comfortable and clean, and lovely staff serviced our room every day. The shower was good with plenty of hot water, and I liked having a fridge and good storage. I could have used more hangers. The hotel is dated, but clean and well located. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful, and we felt it was very good value for what we paid. It's a basic, clean, friendly hotel. I loved the location and the staff, and we really enjoyed our stay. We'd come back at the right price. Thank you for taking care of us.

My husband and I went to the hotel for dinner at night, and it was a real mood spoiler as tourists. The plates they served us on were so dirty. I ordered a chicken taco but got beef instead. When I complained, the waiter said they didn't have chicken and had made it with beef without asking me. The fries smelled awful, like the oil had been used too much. My husband's chicken Tajine wasn't tender or properly cooked either. There was no waiter nearby when we needed help, and we waited a long time at the main reception desk to ask for something. A big, big no, especially for tourists who don't want to waste their time and have their mood spoiled by bad food.
