Maison H Kasbah

We had breakfast on the rooftop every morning during our three-night stay, and the Riad was beautifully decorated and quiet. The room was lovely, with a comfy bed and an excellent shower. It’s just off a main street in Kasbah, within easy walking distance of El Badi Palace, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs and Mosque. There’s also a great selection of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. On arrival we were welcomed with fresh mint tea and chocolate cake. A big thank you to Abdo, Acraf and Yussef for looking after us and arranging a taxi to the airport, and to Asmae the manager for a lovely stay. We’d stay here again.

There’s a lot of potential here, but the management left us with a strange and disappointing stay. The employees and receptionists were helpful, hard-working, upbeat and fun to talk to. They helped us find our way around the city and think of things to enjoy outside the Riad, and I liked relaxing on the cozy rooftop with a drink or coffee at sunset and talking with my wife. The location near the center was very convenient, and everything was close by. What unsettled me was how the manager dealt with her staff and how bland and dry her own service felt. To me, the young manager didn’t seem formally trained for the job. The activities came across as a cash grab: her WhatsApp explanations were vague, prices seemed much higher than at Riads we’d stayed in before for no clear reason, and even small things cost extra. We were charged for a scarf to protect our eyes from dust, and even protective gear wasn’t free, which made me feel a bit scammed. When it was clear we were unhappy, she’d offer a drink or tea, which felt almost like a bribe. It’s a shame that such a beautiful Riad was spoiled for me by this. I’ve visited Morocco many times and know a little Darija. When she switched to Darija, it sounded disrespectful and unprofessional to me. It seemed she didn’t expect foreign visitors to understand, so I felt I got a glimpse into how things worked behind the scenes. One small concern: the employees seemed to work extremely long shifts, though perhaps they’re paid well. The rooms were too bright even with the curtains closed. The AC malfunctioned and beeped a lot, so I couldn’t sleep, and the WiFi was too slow. Our stay was okay, but weird. I expected much better management, and the young woman in particular made me uncomfortable. Other customers I spoke with seemed to share our view about inflated prices and the cash-grab feel.

We had a great stay. The hotel was very clean, the rooms were nice and the staff accommodating. Reda went above and beyond to help us feel at home, with great tips on everything from parking to shopping. He anticipated our questions and needs with helpful suggestions. I’m sad we didn’t get a chance to say goodbye, but please say hello to him from us when you see him. Thanks again, Reda!

The team were always on hand and helpful, and the service was excellent. I had a wonderful stay in a comfortable room with elegant decor. Definitely coming back!❤️❤️🌸✨
