We chose Riad Alkaderi through Booking.com because we wanted a five-star riad with a pool and wellness area. Before traveling, we emailed to ask about the pickup service shown on the website and requested a ride from the bus station, but nobody replied. On arrival we found that the junior suite we had booked and paid for, with three floors and a sauna, wasn't provided. Instead we got a standard double room. When we pointed this out, we were told to spend the first night in that room. No one apologized. The next day we were moved into what they called a “junior suite,” a small room without a sauna. It had cockroaches, ants, mold, and an air conditioner that didn't work properly. The towels were tiny, far below what I'd expect from decent accommodation, let alone a supposed five-star riad. After complaining again, we were moved once more to another standard room, where we stayed for the rest of the trip despite paying for a suite. There was no pool at the property, despite the misleading Google Maps pictures. The spa was unavailable throughout our stay, even though Booking.com and the hotel's website advertised it. When we asked, staff argued that the spa would have cost extra anyway, although the listing didn't say that and the spa was a major reason we booked. At checkout, we asked for a 15% refund because of all these problems. Instead, we were told we should be “grateful” they were only charging the Booking.com rate and not more, simply because we wanted to pay by card. Then the owner threatened to have the police arrest us if we didn't pay the full amount. This is absolutely not a five-star property, and it was not customer-oriented in any way. The experience was horrendous. Avoid this place.

The staff at Riad Alkaderi were amazing and friendly, and we loved our room. Everything is close by, thanks to the perfect location. We loved our stay and would be happy to come back!

Finding the place was the one slight downside. Like several riads, it was hard to locate, so we called the number and asked someone to collect us outside the nearby mosque. Once there, everything was lovely and quiet despite being so central. The junior suite was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a strong shower. The hosts took care of everything, including gluten-free breakfast each day, and were so lovely. This was our favourite riad in Morocco, and really felt like a little home in Marrakech. I wholeheartedly recommend it. If I return to the city, I'll stay here again.

The rooftop was a lovely place to relax quietly and watch the sun go down. We also liked the coffee, and breakfast changed a little from day to day. The people at the riad seemed keen to make sure guests had a good time. Our room for two was really small, with the double bed taking up almost all the space, though it was okay for a few days. Unfortunately, the whirlpool couldn't be used because of technical problems, as other reviewers had mentioned, and there was no compensation. Maybe they could offer a discount on their spa programm. After city trips in a big hot city, it would have been so refreshing to use the pool mentioned in the booking description. We also couldn't print our ryanair tickets for the return flight because the printer was out of paper.

It's a beautiful riad, cared for in every detail, with lovely rooms and great cleanliness. The staff were helpful and friendly, and there's a beautiful hammam available by reservation. Just a stone's throw from Djemaa el Fna square, too. What else? We'll definitely be back!
