Riad Azawan

The hospitality really went beyond what we expected. Ayoub did so much to make our stay memorable, and we’re already looking forward to coming back, Inshallah. The riad itself is beautiful and well cared for, and we really enjoyed the delicious breakfast.

Breakfast was cooked by our very helpful, genuinely cool host each day, and other meals were available for an extra charge. There’s a little rooftop spot that’s great for morning coffee, plus a couple of other shared areas. Our room had air conditioning, toiletries including soap and shampoo and conditioner, and strong water pressure. The riad is tucked into the alleyways near the Medina, close enough to feel the city’s character while still only a 10-15 minute walk from the main markets and restaurants. It was the perfect place for us in Marrakesh, and I’d stay again.

We had our first dinner at the riad, and Ayoub’s cooking was the best we’ve had so far in Marrakech. He met us at the main road, carried our things through the little streets, and welcomed us with delicious tea and a lesson on local history and culture. The Kasbah neighborhood is calm and quiet, a welcome break from the busy souks and other parts of the city. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious each morning. Before the trip and while we were there, Teresa was responsive and helpful with questions about the country and travel arrangements. She also shared a great list of places and activities, and the ones we tried were fantastic. Can’t wait to return!

Ayoub was kind and accommodating, and helped us book several excursions, including Agafay Camp, Ouzoud Waterfalls and Ait Ben Haddou & Quarzazate, as well as taxis. The riad had a calm, comfortable feel, with birds singing in the morning. Our room was tidy and clean, and the tasty breakfast gave us plenty of energy for the day. I really enjoyed staying here and would definitely recommend it for a Marrakech trip.
