There was a great contrast between the busy streets and the calm inside, made even nicer by Rafik's thoughtful manner and mint tea. The rooms were tasteful, with beautiful paintings everywhere, and the rooftop was lovely. Breakfast included tasty Morrocan bread and creps, along with good tea and nice coffee. Rafik was friendly and helpful, and gave us good suggestions for the rest of our travels. A peaceful place to rest.

Hamza at the front desk was wonderful, friendly, and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Breakfast was light, with orange juice, tea, coffee, and assorted breads. Our room had three beds, so it felt tight, and the bathroom lights didn't work even after staff tried to fix them. It was too late to ask for another room, so we didn't bother. The location is fine, but it's about a 13-minute walk from the parking lot to the building, so be ready to carry your bags. Getting around inside the medina takes some getting used to. Watch out for scammers, especially young people who offer unasked-for directions or help and then expect money. The medina gates close around 10pm, making it harder to return afterward. If you're stuck, the safest thing is to call the riad attendant, who will come get you.

Just a short walk from the major sights, Riad Bahja is in a quiet residential part of the back streets of Marrakesh. This restored family home was wonderfully relaxing, and the owners made us feel completely welcome. Their suggestions for places to eat and visit made our stay even better. We just got back from four nights and would wholeheartedly recommend it. A great find.

The location was good and Jama ek Fanaa was within walking distance, but the room and bathroom got very cold during the winter.
